Presentation Skills Course Outline



Introduction

An effective presentation is one that achieves the objective of getting the audience to take an intended and specific action e.g. buying a product, subscribing to a service, approving a proposal etc. To achieve this, the presenter needs to incorporate ingredients of dynamic delivery, critical content and persuasive PowerPoint into the presentation. These are the ingredients, which will transform any boring and ineffective presentation into one, which is impactful, engaging and highly effective.

Course Objective

This program is designed to meet the following objectives.                                                    
  • Learn the Do’s and Don’ts of Presenting
  • Transform boring and ineffective presentations into exciting and effective ones
  • Incorporate elements of dynamic delivery, critical content and persuasive PowerPoint into any presentation
  • Anticipate and fulfill the audience expectations
  • Use politically correct phrases to avoid confrontation
  • Use the PowerPoint as a visual aid to improve understanding
  • Include relevant and visually interesting visual elements into the PowerPoint

Course Syllabus

Module 1
Introduction to Presentations Skills

Participant will be introduced to the importance of effective presentation skills, a glimpse of great presentations
Module 2
Overcoming Nervousness & Avoiding Speech Crutches

First presentation project focusing on reducing nervousness and speech crutches.

Module 3
Elements of Dynamic Delivery

Incorporate basic and advanced hand gestures, stance, facial expression, eye contact, and vocal projection and variation into the presentation delivery; applying the dos and the don’ts of delivery

Module 4
Speech Organization

Focus on elements of introduction, body & conclusion; logic and sequencing; anticipate and fulfill audience expectations
Module 5
The Presentation Skills

Statement of problem, selling the solution,   features vs. benefits, call to action, closing the sale. This exercise can be customized to accommodate Technical Presentations if required.
Module 6
The Powerpoint Presentation

Briefings or Proposals at the workplace, Managing the powerpoint, Using the remote powerpoint clicker and laser pointer, The dos and don’ts of a powerpoint presentation
